Protect Yourself - Common Sense

1.   If someone comes up to you in a parking lot and ask you if you would be interested in buying (ex. jewelry, electronics etc.) for a cheaper price, tell them NO, and walk away from them as fast as possable.  Remember you don't get something for nothing.  There is a good chance the items are stolen or the items are not what they claim they are.  A diamond ring is really a CZ or a 14K  watch is GOLD PLATED.

2.   If you put insoles in your shoes, make sure you put them in both shoes, even if one foot hurts.  Otherwise you may throw your back or hips out of alignment.

 4.   Never keep the same daily routine, there are people out there that make a living watching their neighbors or a place they want to rob.  Most people have a routine, so it is easy for robbers to find out when they are gone.  (ex. If  you always turn on a porch light  when you leave, sometimes don't leave one on, leave a lamp on, near the window instead.) You can also leave a back porch light on from time to time or turn on differant lights like the kitchen light on.  What ever you do make sure it does not turn into a routine.  Never leave the house at the same time, make it 5 to 10 minutes leaving from time to time or coming home.

5.  Keep your house locked in the day time when you are home, or you might have an intruder in your house one day to rob you or worse.

6.  When using a step stool or a ladder in the house to clean out of reach places, put  a rubber backed bath rug under the ladder for those slippery floors in kitchens etc.

7.   Have your house keys out and ready to use before you get out of your car to go to your house, in case a stranger comes up behind you.

8.  Tell your children or grand children that if a stranger ask them to help them find their animal , even if they offer them money.  Tell them to say they will get their parents to help and run.

9.   Even if you are watching a child on your lap, you should not let them have a balloon.  The reason is children like to chew on them and believe it when the balloon pops it can go down the childs throught.  I have seen this happen twice, once with my own child.  Both children were very lucky and they did not choke.

10.  Pull over when you see RED lights on any emegency vehicals coming with RED lights and Sirens.

11.  If you are riding a bus at night, sit as close as possible to the driver for safety.
